If you’re looking for one of the best tourist attractions in Colorado then the Garden of the Gods is tough to beat. This dreamlike public park is located deep within Colorado Springs and features an incredible blend of lush, dense forest wilderness combined with jutting red rocks that reach out from the dark toward the heavens. If you haven’t been to this pristine wilderness then pack up the car, pack up the kids, fire up the ADT Home Security and hit the road.

Perhaps the most striking feature of the park is the geological formations often referred to as the hogbacks. These spindly rock formations resemble the backs and spines of a pig with ridges of sandstone tilted to create jagged rows of intimidating rock formations. There are also balancing rocks that are just as incredible to witness in person as they are to actually hear about. If you’re truly looking for something intriguing and unexpected you need only gaze out at these unique and seemingly logic-defying rocky formations.

The Garden of the Gods is really something that needs to be seen rather than simply read about. Only through seeing it in person will you truly understand why such a place would be called the Garden of the Gods; where the gods themselves would see fit to assemble.
